Biographical Sketch: Kirksak Jay Poonkasem, MD, LMT is an Associate Medical Director at Suncoast Hospice in Clearwater, Florida. Dr. Poonkasem works mainly at Suncoast Hospice – Brookside Hospice House which is a state of the art inpatient hospice facility that can accommodate up to 30 patients.
Dr. Poonkasem completed his medical school training at the University of Florida College of Medicine, his residency training in Family Medicine at the University of South Florida/Morton Plant Mease Family Medicine Residency Program, his Medical Acupuncture training at UCLA/Stanford University – Helms Medical Institute, and his Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona under Dr. Andrew Weil.
Dr. Poonkasem truly brings an Integrative approach to medicine and to his patient's at Suncoast Hospice – Brookside Hospice House utilizing therapies such as acupuncture, cupping, massage, energy medicine and breath work. Dr. Poonkasem also teaches Family Medicine Residents and PA students who rotate with him about Hospice/Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.
