Biographical Sketch: Catherine Deamant, MD, is the Director of Palliative Care Services for the Cook County Health and Hospitals System which is the largest safety net provider for the medically indigent in the Chicagoland area and Cook County. She has been an internist in the Division of General Internal Medicine of Cook County Hospital for the last 21 years and established the hospital's interdisciplinary palliative care program in 2001. The program now provides service through an inpatient consultation service, multiple outpatient clinics and through home visits. She is also the Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship sponsored by Cook County Hospital and in partnership with Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter.
