Biographical Sketch:
Holly Yang, MD is the Assistant Director of the International Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program at the Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice. In this role she coordinates the United States portion of the International Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and participates in international teaching courses in palliative care. She is also a Clinical Medical Director for San Diego Hospice, and provides cares for patients in both inpatient care centers as well as in patients’ homes. Dr. Yang is a Voluntary Clinical Instructor for University of California, San Diego Medical School, as well as the Co-director for the Fourth-Year Medical Student Clerkship in Palliative Medicine. She is part of the Attending Medical Staff in the Department of Medicine in Palliative Care at UCSD and provides palliative medicine consultations at UCSD Thornton Hospital and Moores Cancer Center. Dr. Yang received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Northwestern University in 1997, as well as her MD from Northwestern University Medical School in 2001, where she was part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota from 2001-2004. She was selected to be a Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine residency program at the University of Minnesota, and served in that capacity from 2004-2005. She pursued fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice from 2005-2007, where she later joined the staff. Dr. Yang is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Her professional interests are focused on patient care and palliative care education locally, nationally, and internationally.
