Biographical Sketch:
Noreen A. Carrington, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has worked in the grief and loss field for the past 17 years. She is currently the Executive Director of The Center for Grief Care and Education at The Institute for Palliative Medicine. Noreen designed and developed the Counseling Internship Program that trains new therapists in the area of grief and loss. The training program includes forty interns, including first, second and third year candidates and PhD students. Noreen also has directed a certificate program for community professionals, which provided training in grief, loss and bereavement education. Noreen is a faculty member at The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice, which trains over 900 health care professionals annually. Noreen speaks to lay and professional audiences on various topics including rituals and remembrance, grief and loss, professional self care, grief in the workplace and grief at school. Additionally Noreen has been named a Fellow in Thanatology (FT) by the Association for Death Education and Counseling, in recognition of her contributions to teaching, research and clinical practice in the field of bereavement.
