Biographical Sketch: I graduated from Bellin College of Nursing in 1991 and have been a registered nurse for over 20 years. My experiences include working as a staff nurse on a busy cardiac/medical floor. I have been in hospice and palliative care for over eleven years as both a primary nurse and in a management position.
Some of my responsibilities as compliance officer are to:
• Monitor, report and recommend actions on State and Federal regulatory changes
• Monitor and report on OIG and Med Pac reports
• Monitor audits related to regulatory compliance
• Complete caregiver and professional misconduct investigations and reporting
• Assist in the medical record review for CERTs and ADRs
• Monitor HIPAA Privacy and Security compliance
• Assist with on-going compliance related education
• Chair of the Compliance Committee which includes 14 staff members and an attorney.
Since April 2003 I have maintained approved educator status for the Generalist Clinical Review for hospice and palliative nurses and nursing assistants through the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. As an approved educator I have worked with HOPE of Wisconsin in providing the review course throughout the state of Wisconsin.
In September 2008 I participated in the Wisconsin State Expert Panel on Palliative Care in a Disaster.
I have been a NHPCO Regulatory Committee member since January 2010.
I am also an ELNEC trainer.
