Biographical Sketch: Bio Catherine Sweeney
Catherine Sweeney is the Education Instructor at Hospice Care Network where she has worked for 14 years moving from staff nurse to her current position 4 years ago. As the Education Instructor she has help to change and improve the orientation of all the staff. She creates and implements the education for the Hospice Aides employed by her organization. She also creates the education of the nurses with the Education Manager. She is slowly bringing the use of computers for education to the agency at this time.
Mrs. Sweeney has her BSN from Chamberlain College of Nursing and has been certified in hospice and palliative care for 9 years. She is also an ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium) SuperCore and Pediatrics and has assisted in the planning the presentation for these curricula while she has been the Education Instructor. In 2010 she coordinated and taught in the first presentation of the Geriatric Nursing Assistant ELNEC and is proud to say more than 90% of the Hospice Aides in her agency attended both days. Catherine is currently on the NBCHPN-EDU for the Nursing Assistants which gives her the opportunity to speak with NAs from around the country and bring that information int the training of the Hospice Aides in her agency.
