Biographical Sketch: Sharyl Kooyer completed her Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree from the University of San Francisco. As a natural leader, her career in nursing has given her many opportunities to manage and mentor staff, to develop a broad understanding about staff administration as well as a thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations. Her real passion, has proven itself with a deep commitment and genuine understanding of Hospice.
Currently, Sharyl manages two large hospice offices at Sutter along with the AIM, Advanced Illness Management program. Her compassion for staff and patients is instrumental in her success as a strong and consistent leader. She has partnered with local facilities and physicians to educate and promote awareness about all aspects of the hospice and palliative care programs at Sutter.
In an effort to provide a deeper understanding about the benefits of hospice, Sharyl actively conducts community outreach as an educator and speaker. She enjoys public speaking and has been a guest speaker on local radio programs, was instrumental in initiating a physician and community education speaker’s bureau, conducts education with patients and families, at local community groups, facilities and professional associations. .
