Biographical Sketch:
Cathy Almon, BSN, RN, CPHQ, currently serves as the Senior Director for Corporate Compliance and Quality Improvement for Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region (HPCCR) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cathy joined HPCCR in 2005 after serving in acute care for over 30 years. Her acute care background included clinical specialty in critical care and cardiac catheterization lab. She served in various leadership and management/supervisory positions in the hospital setting, as well as serving as a Clinical Educator and Manager position for 10 years. Cathy began work in Quality Improvement in 1996, now serving in that specialty for 14 years. She achieved the designation Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, CPHQ, in 1999. Cathy joined Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region in 2005 as a Quality Analyst and currently oversees a staff of nine persons in Quality and Health Information Management departments. She serves as a member of the Corporate Compliance Committee and also serves as the organizational Privacy Officer. In her tenure at HPCCR, Cathy has helped organize and formalize the quality program, and has facilitated numerous Root Cause Analysis teams, Performance Improvement Teams, and the organization's first Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Team. Cathy has worked with the North Carolina Hospice Provider Network, working to identify best practice processes, and is currently engaged with that group to collect and internally report quality measure data in an effort to increase preparedness for hospice quality public reporting.
