Biographical Sketch: Darlene Avery, an ordained chaplain and Licensed Clinical Social Worker,has worked in the hospice field for almost 8 years in homecare, assisted living/skilled nursing, and inpatient care. She has managed chaplains and counselors and now works fulltime in education and program development for Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is a member of the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care Education Committee, helping to assess and provide continuing education for professionals in her region, and is a requested speaker/collaborator in her in the wider community about a wide range of psychospiritual care issues and professional education. In her previous career, Darlene worked in international business education and loves to help bridge understanding between the nursing, psychospiritual and administrative worlds of healthcare.
