Biographical Sketch: Bernard L Fischer RPh CPh FASCP is the Director of Pharmacy Services at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. He serves as the Consultant Pharmacist of Record for this agency. Bernie is the primary medication consultant and educator for this four office hospice practice which serves three counties and 550 patients on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Bernie is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University Of Florida College Of Pharmacy and provides preceptorship to the Pharm D Students of Palm Beach Atlantic and Nova Southeastern University's Colleges of Pharmacy. Bernie also sits on the Tripartite Committee of the Florida Board of Pharmacy and is tasked with approving CE Education proposals for the Pharmacists of the state.
Bernie has provided multiple presentations to the local Medical Society, Schools of Pharmacy and Nursing, as well as the State Pharmacy Society. Topics included Pain Management, Palliative Care and Symptom Management of the Dying Patient, Opioid Rotation and Dose Conversions, Psychiatric Disturbances and Treatment in the Hospice Patient, as well as numerous topics addressing the myriad of symptom management in the end of life setting. Bernie also has membership in the Florida Society of Health Systems Pharmacists and served as a member of the Educational Council. Bernie's areas of expertise include Pain and Symptom Management in end of life care along with palliation of the symptoms associated with the dying patient.
