Biographical Sketch:
Patricia A. Goodwin, ACSW, LCSW, ACHP-SW is the Psychosocial Team Leader—Palliative Care Programs for Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, a large and well established hospice in central Florida. She is responsible for developing the psychosocial component for a hospital palliative care consultation service, actively provides psychosocial support to hospice patients in the hospital environment and is the program coordinator for a newly developing children’s palliative care program. In addition, she has an education/coaching role in leadership development as well as ethics education to staff internally. She is the Chairperson of the hospice Bioethics Committee and is a member of the Halifax Health Medical Center Bioethics Committee. Patricia has over 30 years of experience as a social worker in the health care field, including hospitals, long term care facilities, home health and hospice. She has supervised other social workers and bereavement staffs as well as providing direct social work care in inpatient units. She coaches interdisciplinary staffs in assessment and problem solving and has experience in promoting patient/family satisfaction through experience as a patient representative and service improvement project manager. She has a special interest in the psychosocial/spiritual dimensions of end of life care and clinical and organizational ethics. For the past two years, she has served on the planning committee for the annual state-wide Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Forum.
