Biographical Sketch:
Miriam Morrison, BA, MA, CVA is Director of Volunteer Services at The Hospice of Dayton (Ohio) and The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties where she has grown volunteers from 37,000 to 56,000 increased volunteers from 250 to 550, and created over 40 opportunities to volunteer in four years. She has been part of the Hospice Veteran Partnership for two years, creating a successful veteran to veteran pinning program to honor veterans at the end of life. She is a Certified Volunteer Administrator and has 15 years experience as a director in volunteer management with several non-profit organizations in Ohio. She was named 2006 Outstanding Volunteer Administrator of the Miami Valley area, Dayton, Ohio. She is a certified Instructor of Trainers and peer mediator. She is a frequent presenter at conferences, such as the Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Conference, Forging New Links, Trainer Conference for Girl Scouts, the Miami Valley Association of Volunteer Administrators, Wright State University, and AmeriCorps. As a certified teacher/administrator, she taught English, biology, and journalism in high schools and colleges in Ohio and North Carolina and holds her principal certification. She helped start a new high school called the Performance Learning Center in Charlotte, NC, for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She was in charge of their English curriculum and helped coordinate their service learning and internships.
