1. Identify four current loss and grief theories as they relate to a bereavement setting
2. List specific interventions arising from differing loss and grief theories
3. Differentiate between uncomplicated and complicated grief responses within the context of a particular theoretical orientation
This session will explore the most recent research and practice related to loss and grief in a bereavement setting. Attention will be paid to assessment, plans of care and intervention within a specific theoretical framework. The concept of complicated grief will be examined along with its implications in a hospice bereavement program and its scope of service. [While this session builds on an earlier session entitled Bringing the Guidelines to Life: Actualizing the Basics of the NHPCO Guidelines for Bereavement Care In Hospice, it is not necessary to attend the earlier session in order to attend this one.]
