This session will address the conditions in which flash pulmonary edema may occur in patients at the end of life. In addition, faculty will describe the etiology and pathophysiology of flash pulmonary edema. Participants will learn interventions in the NOMAD protocol and the order in which they should be implemented.

2. Discuss the etiology and pathophysiology of flash pulmonary edema in the terminally ill heart failure patient
3. Discuss the 5 interventions in the NOMAD protocol and the order in which they should be administered
