Bereavement Primer - Developing a Quality and Compliant Hospice Bereavement Program

This seminar will review the basics of developing and managing a compliant and quality hospice bereavement program, including providing children and grief services. Regulatory requirements, quality and performance improvement initiatives, assessment and care planning will be included in the content. In addition, industry standards and best practices related to services provided, including scope of practice, will be discussed by the faculty, who are members of the Bereavement Professionals Section of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals and well-seasoned in bereavement care and services in the field. The seminar will provide a rich and stimulating learning experience for bereavement professionals at every level.

Learning Objectives:
1. Cite federal, state and other regulatory requirements of hospice bereavement programs, including quality assessment and performance improvement; discuss strategies to meet requirements
2. Plan for the development of a quality and compliant bereavement program or evaluate and improve an existing bereavement program, using standards in the industry and best practices
3. Develop a thorough bereavement assessment and care plan based on standards of practice and scope of service
