Two different hospice organizations, one hospital based and one free-standing, describe their journey to implement the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).  One hospice comes from the perspective of transitioning from one EMR to another, while the other hospice transitioned from paper to an EMR. Two perspectives are provided, one from a CEO and one from a CFO, on the process of choosing, implementing and then evaluating their EMR.

Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate the use of tools to evaluate EMRs
2. Summarize the story of two hospice providers and their work in implementing an EMR
3. Identify the necessary elements of an effective EMR
