Medications are used to a great degree when providing symptom relief for patients with an advanced illness.  Often patients end up taking 5, 10, 20 or more medications per day, which dramatically increases the risk of medication misadventures. Participants in this program will learn techniques for effective medication management including discontinuing medications based on an analysis of the benefits and burdens of drug therapy. Participants will learn about new recommendations for safety and efficacy dosing and monitoring for methadone. Last, participants will enjoy a lively round of “speed dating” drug tips aimed at maximizing quality of life for patients with an advanced illness.
