Biographical Sketch: Kate Woods is General Counsel for Hospice Pharmacia and excelleRx, Inc. an Omnicare company. In this role, Kate is responsible for all legal matters including contract negotiations, licensure and accreditations, and policy advocacy on issues including the use of technology in the area of hospice pharmacy and understanding the role of regulatory compliance in controlling healthcare business costs.
Kate joined excelleRx in 2004 as Associate Counsel. She assumed leadership of the legal department in 2007 and was appointed General Counsel in 2009. Kate is well recognized for her work on the emerging issue of pharmaceutical waste and its attendant economic and environmental costs. She has published numerous articles, has been interviewed for her opinion, and has presented on this and other healthcare topics at local and national conferences.
Kate earned her JD from Temple University, Beasley School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Rosemont College with her BA in psychology. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Public Health at Columbia University.
