Biographical Sketch:
Gretchen Brown MSW is President CEO of Hospice of the Bluegrass a large not for profit organization serving over 1000 patients in 32 counties in Kentucky. HOB also operates a wholly owned subsidary Palliative Care of the Bluegrass, Extra Care, a private duty nursing service and the Palliative Care Leadership Center of the Bluegrass, an educational center focused on palliative care operations. Ms. Brown has lead HOB for over 28 years as the program has grown to serve the current caseload with seven home care offices, two inpatient facilities, in house DME, the private duty and Palliative Physician practice from one site and 17 patients. Ms. Brown has served as an educator in the College of Social Work and at professional conference, as well as a staple presenter with the Palliative Care Center of the Bluegrass, the most active of the CAPC lead centers. Numerous presentations have been made for NHPCO over the past 25 plus years, the state organization KAHPC, CAPC, AAHPM and other end of life educational opportunities. Ms. Brown is the current Chair of NHPCO and has served on many non profit organization Boards on the local and state level as well. The variety ranges from community arts and education organizations, social service agencies large and small, state and national policy task forces.
