Biographical Sketch:
Pam Edwards, RN is a senior leader at Covenant Hospice. As Vice President of Clinical Services she oversees Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical Informatics, and Special Programs which includes; Social Work, Chaplain, Bereavement and Children’s Services. Pam came to Covenant in 2002 with a diverse background including Director of Nursing of Long Term Care and Assisted Living Facilities, Regional Director in Hospice, Director of Sub-Acute Care in a long term care facility; including a twenty two bed ventilator unit and a twenty two bed rehabilitation unit, and the acute care setting with nine years as an Army Nurse. She began her career in Hospice over twelve years ago and is certified in Hospice and Palliative Care. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia. She and her family moved to the Gulf Coast area in 1996. Five years ago Pam took over management of Covenant’s award winning “Patient Family Handbook” which won the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s 2004 Award of Excellence in Community Education. This handbook was featured in the April 2005 Hospice Management Advisor. This book has become an invaluable tool in providing information to patient’s and their caregivers, and has become an integral part of the care planning process. As a national speaker, presenting at clinical, management and leadership conferences, Pam has shared her experiences in healthcare on a variety of topics to include Clinical Informatics and the role of education in quality assurance and performance improvement.
