Biographical Sketch: Bio Joyce A. Sutton
Joyce Sutton, MS, M.Ed. is the Curriculum Development &Training Specialist for the Hospice Education & Resource Training (HEaRT) Department at VITAS Healthcare Corporation, where she is primarily responsible for the management and leadership training for hospice managers. Joyce began work in the hospice industry in 1994, and worked as an Instructional Designer at VITAS in Miami. She then went on to become the Professional Development Manager for Suncoast Hospice in Largo, Florida and the Education Manager for Genesys Hospice in Michigan. Joyce rejoined the staff at VITAS in 2002 as the Senior Clinical Systems Trainer, where she became part of the training and implementation team for the new electronic patient record system.
In her current role as Curriculum Development & Training Specialist, Joyce works as the Lead Facilitator for the New Manager Orientation, and also developed an online Leadership Development Training series for managers – which provides over 30 course offerings each quarter on hospice leadership and management issues.
Joyce currently resides in Miami, and holds a Master of Science degree from Simmons College in Boston, as well as a Master of Education degree in Adult Education from the University of Georgia.
