Biographical Sketch:
Mary K. Sheehan, MSN, MBA, RN is currently a partner with QPC Hospice Program LLC. Mary has more than 23 years’ experience in the hospice and home health industry, including 16 years as President and CEO of Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center in Glenview, IL. Ms. Sheehan has a master’s degree in oncology nursing from Loyola University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Mary was member of the Hospice and Palliative Care Advisory Board of the Illinois Department of Public Health from 2008-2010 and was a member of the Illinois Home Care Council Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008. In January 2010, she was appointed to the Loyola University Alumni Advisory Board. She has served the Joint Commission Hospice Advisory Committee and was also appointed to the Joint Commission Standards Improvement Initiative Taskforce in 2006.Ms. Sheehan joined the Public Policy Committee of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in 2010, and had been a member of the NHPCO Data Advisory Council. She is a Site Advisory Committee member for the Population-based Palliative Care Research Network. She also served on the Advisory Board of the Hospice Association of America and, as a representative of that group, participated in the 2005 national review of the proposed Conditions of Participation for Medicare-certified hospice programs. The author or co-author of numerous professional journal articles on the care of individuals with terminal illnesses, Ms. Sheehan has spoken regionally and nationally on end-of-life care. In 2009, Loyola University recognized Ms. Sheehan’s work by presenting her with a Distinguished Alumni Award, the most prestigious acknowledgement of Loyola nursing alumni accomplishment.
