Biographical Sketch:
Bio Betsy Gornet Betsy Gornet, CHE, FACHE, is the Chief Hospice Executive at Sutter Care at Home, an affiliate of Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health system serving Northern California. Betsy oversees seven sites of hospice care with an average daily census of approximately 650 patients. She also oversees the Advance Illness Management (AIM) services for the Sutter Health system which serves approximately 700 patients a day through a palliative care home care program and a larger scale expanded care management program for persons with advancing illness. Betsy has served in several leadership roles in hospice care, initially with Nathan Adelson Hospice from 1987-1997. She worked with hospice programs who were a part of the Vista Hospital System from 1997-2001, and with Hospice by the Bay from 2001-2005. She joined Sutter Care at Home in 2007. Betsy has also served in several senior executive roles in freestanding hospital and home care entities, as well as with health systems. She was the Chief Operations Officer for PhysioHealth, a private equity funded national Physical Therapy and Wellness Company. She served in the same capacity for Vista Hospital System, a not-for-profit health system in California comprised of 10 operating entities of hospitals, extended care facilities, and multiple home health & hospice agencies. Earlier in her career she worked for Humana, Inc in leadership roles in their hospital division and the physician practice management division. She began her healthcare administrative career at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Betsy received her MS in Health Systems Management from Rush University, Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, and her BA in Psychology (psychopharmacology research) from Indiana University. She is a Fellow and Board Certified through the American College of Healthcare Executives. Throughout her career, Betsy has served as a committee member and faculty to professional organizations including American College of Healthcare Executives, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, California Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the California Association of Healthcare Services At Home.
