Biographical Sketch:
ELIZABETH T. ALEXANDER, RN, BSN, MS, OCN, CHPN Elizabeth Alexander currently serves as Director, Penn Wissahickon Hospice and Caring Way, in the Homecare and Hospice Division of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. In this position, which she has held since February 2008, she manages strategic, administrative, and clinical operations of the healthcare system’s hospice division, providing inpatient as well as hospital, homecare, and nursing home hospice services. She served as Vice President, Hospice Services, in the Homecare and Hospice Division of Holy Redeemer Health System, Philadelphia, PA from 2005 until 2007, when she joined the University of Pennsylvania. In this position, she managed operations of the medical system’s hospice division, with four sites in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. From 1998 to 2005, Ms. Alexander served as Vice President, Patient Services, for Samaritan Hospice, Marlton, NJ, where she managed clinical and administrative operations of a home and on-site/inpatient hospice with 350 patients in the Southern and Central New Jersey region From1980 to 1998, Ms. Alexander served in managerial and clinical roles for Virtua-Memorial Hospital of Burlington County, Mt. Holly, NJ. Her responsibilities during this period included Pain Management Coordinator/Oncology Mentor (1996 to 1998), Oncology Clinic Coordinator/Case Manager (1986 to 1996), Nurse Manager, Oncology (1982 to 1984), and Oncology/Medical-Surgical Staff RN (1980 to 1982). Ms. Alexander received her MS degree in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA in 2005, her BSN degree from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, PA in 1999, and her Nursing Diploma from Germantown Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA in 1980. She holds current Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPN) and Oncology Nursing (OCN) certifications. Ms. Alexander is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, and the Oncology Nursing Society.
