Biographical Sketch:
Janet Bull, MD serves as Chief Medical Officer for Four Seasons in Flat Rock, NC. In 2009, Four Seasons received the Circle of Life award for their integrated palliative care program and research department, both of which Dr. Bull was instrumental in creating. In 2007, Dr. Bull and Dr. Abernethy formed the Palliative Care State Database, a project devoted to collecting and analyzing data, developing benchmarks, and quality initiatives in palliative care. This project has grown into a Palliative Care Consortium, with multiple sites involved in collecting data over North Carolina. She currently serves as Principle Investigator on multiple clinical trials, and conducts research on hospice and palliative care patients in the home setting. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, and a frequent speaker at both state and national meetings. She is chairman of the AAHPM research committee, sits on the Hospice Intermediary Advisory Board, the National Hospice Workgroup, and chairs the CMO Forum of the National Hospice Workgroup, and is an assistant editor for PC Fasts. She also holds a consulting professor faculty appointment at Duke University Medical Center.
