Saturday, March 29, 2014: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM
National Harbor 12-13 (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center)
Primary Presenter:
Roseanne Berry, MSN, RN
Co-Presenter:
Charlene Ross, MSN, MBA, RN
Area of Emphasis: Regulatory Issues
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the OIG’s reports and recommendations on hospice care in the nursing facility
2. Discuss actions to consider to reduce risk and improve care
3. Recognize audits to consider in your compliance program
The OIG's focus on hospice care in the nursing home not only continues but it seems to be picking up more steam as it goes along.  It is reported that by 2020, 40% of those over 65 are projected to die in nursing homes and hospice care is an important part of helping ensure quality end-of-life care to those residents.  The session explores the risk areas, reviews OIG study results, explores actions to improve compliance and more.
