Wednesday, March 26, 2014: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Woodrow Wilson B (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center)
Primary Presenter:
Claire B. Tehan, MA
Area of Emphasis: Team Management and Leadership
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss and apply the 3-D leadership model
2. Describe and apply a "core curriculum" of leadership development
3. Identify opportunities and experiences to increase leadership effectiveness
A 3-D leader is someone who is effective in leading him/herself (managing thoughts, emotions, actions and attitudes), leading others (demonstrating interpersonal and social savvy to make connections with others) and leading his/her organization (utilizing skills and perspectives to get the work done).

What do we know about developing leaders? Research shows that a “70-20-10 rule” applies to leadership development: 70% of our learning comes from challenging assignments on the job; 20% from developmental relationships and 10% from coursework and training. This seminar will utilize LiFE Explorer,™ a tool from the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), to help individuals explore and apply these three dimensions; ensuring that learning and development is intentional, not incidental or accidental.
