Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Harrold is the Medical Director and Vice President, Medical Services of Hospice and Community Care and has nearly 20 years of experience in hospice and palliative care. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, she received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed her internal medicine residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital/Bowman Gray School of Medicine. During her Cancer Prevention and Control Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, she completed a Master of Public Health degree with special emphasis in epidemiology and biostatistics. Dr. Harrold serves on the Board of Directors of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, the NHPCO Relatedness Work Group, and the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board Examination Committee. Additionally, Dr. Harrold has served: the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (Physician section leader); The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Board of Directors and Governance Committee); The American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Board of Directors and Exam Committee); The American Board of Internal Medicine Examination Committee for Hospice and Palliative Medicine; The Pennsylvania Hospice Network (Board of Directors and various committees); and, The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (Board of Directors and committees). Dr. Harrold participates in peer-reviewed hospice research; provides numerous local, state, and national presentations; serves as a reviewer for books and articles on of end of life issues for a variety of medical journals and publishers; and is co-author of the Handbook for Mortals: Guidance for People Facing Serious Illness, second edition published by Oxford University Press in 2011.
