Biographical Sketch:
I received my PhD from the Department of Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. My doctoral training is in social science research methods as applied to issues in health policy and public health ethics, including qualitative, quantitative, and conceptual ethics analysis methods. Before pursuing my doctoral degree, I participated in health care program implementation and evaluation at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. in Washington D.C. and laboratory research in the Department of Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Hospital, Boston. I am currently Director of Research at a large community-based non-profit provider of hospice and palliative care services, where I oversee and conduct clinical trials, health services research, implementation science, and program evaluation. Primarily, these projects focus on improving systems of care for patients with advanced illness, improving the measurement of care quality system-wide, and building the evidence base for treatments used in palliative and hospice care. My responsibilities include designing and implementing research or demonstration projects, writing grants, managing projects, disseminating and presenting findings, and mentoring students and fellows in research.
