Biographical Sketch: Suzi K. Johnson currently serves as the Vice President of Sharp HospiceCare, a program of Sharp HealthCare located in San Diego, CA. SuziÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs responsibilities include strategic planning, business development, operational oversight, community outreach and philanthropy. Her extensive experience in leadership and her passion for excellence in end of life care helps to position Sharp HealthCare for greater system-wide integration of palliative and end of life care across the care continuum. Suzi has been a visionary leader in the development a home based palliative care consultation program focusing on population based management of patients with advanced stage illness such as heart failure, COPD, dementia and advanced stage cancer and the development of an advance care planning consultation program.
Sharp HealthCare was the recipient of the 2012 American Hospital Association Circle of Life Award recognizing outstanding strategic integration of palliative care and a strong culture of quality. Sharp HealthCare is a 2007 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
Suzi is leading the organization by designing innovative programs and care delivery models to better serve people at end of life including palliative and hospice care, including the development and opening of hospice homes in San Diego communities.
Suzi currently serves on the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Board of Directors, is the board President of the California Hospice Foundation and is the past president of the California Hospice and Palliative Care Association Board of Directors.
Suzi has become a nationally recognized leader in the field of palliative and end of life care lecturing throughout the country on topics such as leadership, organizational innovation, and program development in palliative and end of life care.
