Biographical Sketch: I have worked in the area of Hospice and end-of-life care since 1983. Initially, I served as the Director of Education for the Life Transitions Center, a grief counseling agency,then as the Director of Benedict House, a residence for persons living with AIDS and HIV. In 1992 I returned to the Life Transitions Center as its Execuive Director. In 2002,I was given the opportunity to develop the Center for Excellence in End-of-Life Education, Research and Practice at The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care. In this position, helped to create an internal "Hospice University" through which was provided all employee eduation and training. A large part of my position involved the provision of education and training for employees and for community groups. As Director of the Palliative Care Institute, I was involved in developing curricula on palliative care with our university partners. Reserch activities were under my purview as was the palliative medicine fellowship program and other student internships and rotations. I served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Religious Studies at Canisius College and was also faculty for NHPCO's Manager Development program. From March of 2013 - May of 2014 I was Director of Education at NHPCO.In May of 2014 I moved into the position of Director of Palliative Care.
