Biographical Sketch: Claire has been active in the America Hospice movement since 1975. She was the founder and CEO of TrinityCare Hospice, a position she left in June 2005 after 28 years. Under her leadership, the program was recognized for its excellence of care and development of innovative programs including AIDS Case Management, TrinityKids Care and Palliative Care Consultation Team Partnerships with multiple hospitals.
Claire has been deeply involved in the evolution of hospice at the California state and national level. She served as member of the NHPCO Board of Directors for four terms totaling 13 years, including one year as Chairperson of the organization. Her contributions at the national level included development of the NHO Standards of Hospice Care, Chair of the NHO AIDS Resource Committee for six years, Chair of the National Council of Hospice Professionals for three years and member of the Hospice Medicare Benefit/End of Life Task Force. She was awarded NHPCOÃÂs Founders Award in 2002.
Hospice care in California has also benefited from ClaireÃÂs participation at the state level. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California Hospice Association, she guided the merger of the Northern and Southern California Hospice Associations into one state wide Hospice Organization. She was on the Board of the California State Hospice Association for 6 years and served as President for 3 years. She was awarded the Pierre Salmon Award for Outstanding Contributions to Hospice Care by CSHA in 1993 and California Hospice and Palliative Care AssociationÃÂs Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
She has spent the last 5 years as a consultant to hospices nationwide with a focus on strategic planning, change management and program evaluation. In addition, she is a certified Executive Coach who works with successful leaders in many industries.
