Biographical Sketch:
Diane Parker, RN, MSN, NE-BC, CHPN, CHPPN, is the founder and previous executive director of Hands of HopeŽ, the pediatric division of Hospice Care of South Carolina. Ms. Parker joined the organization in 2007 as the chief nursing officer. Her board certifications include Nurse Executive, Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse, and Hospice and Palliative Care Pediatric Nurse. She developed the only comprehensive interdisciplinary pediatric resource team to provide pediatric hospice and palliative care statewide. Ms. Parker serves on the ChiPPs Advisory Council and represents South Carolina on the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Pediatric Policy Networking Group. She has been the catalyst for change in regulatory and legislative landscape of pediatric care. She is an End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Pediatric trainer. Ms. Parker is an approved educator for the Clinical Review for the Generalist Hospice and Palliative Nurse for the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. She was recently awarded the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NCBHPN) 2014 CHPPN of the Year in recognition of her patient advocacy and leadership in pediatric palliative and hospice care. Ms. Parker was also recognized as a 2011 ELNEC Award Winner by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing/City of Hope for her contribution to ELNEC training across the state. She has published in the ChiPPS newsletter on the topic of Concurrent Care and is the nurse editor of PediGEMS 2014 edition.
