Biographical Sketch: Ms. Hamel has over 25 years executive experience in healthcare management from small physician practice management to Fortune 500 business development and operations responsibilities, including acquisition and development activities. She held executive positions at NeighborCare At Home, Severn Healthcare, Inc., Columbia Healthcare Corporation and TeamCare. At Columbia HealthCare Corporation she participated in an on site survey for the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award for Healthcare. Ms. Hamel was directly responsible for the Information Management survey responses.
Ms. Hamel is currently the Executive Director/ Chief Operating Officer at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, Maryland and Vice President, Post Acute Services, Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare. Gilchrist Hospice Care is MarylandÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs largest hospice and a wholly owned subsidiary of Greater Baltimore Medical Center. The hospice cares for both adult and pediatric patients. In addition, she has administrative responsibility for Gilchrist Greater Living, a geriatric and palliative medicine practice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and an Associates degree in criminal justice from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She also has a Masters Degree in the Management of Aging Services from UMBC.
Ms. Hamel additionally serves as a member of the NHPCO Foundation Board of Directors and is Vice Chairman of the Hospice Alliance of Maryland.
