Chesapeake 7-9 (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center) - 2nd Level
Faculty:
Employee engagement is closely tied to providing an environment where employees can perform at their best. This session will describe how a clinician with no previous management experience took over a hospice inpatient unit with a very poor work culture, job satisfaction and turnover rates. By utilizing basic engagement principles staff were able to turn the work culture/safety and turnover rates around from the lowest to the highest in 15 months. Faculty will discuss the interventions that led to high levels of employee engagement, and a current employee will discuss her experience over the 15 months and what it did to her perception of her work and job satisfaction.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the components of effective employee engagement
2. Discuss the relationship between teamwork and effective clinical practice
3. Describe three components of an effective employee engagement strategic plan
