Biographical Sketch:
Janet H Bull, MD FAAHPM is Chief Medical Officer at Four Seasons, a hospice and palliative medicine organization serving western North Carolina. Board-certified in HPM, she is an active clinician recognized for clinical excellence by the Sharon O. Dixon Award (2007) and the Hastings Center Cuniff-Dixon Award (2012). An educator, Dr. Bull is consulting Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Clinical Instructor in Medicine at University of North Carolina Henderson Family Practice Residency Program, and Program Director of the Palliative Care Immersion Course, a 40-hour experiential curriculum for clinical providers. She directs Four Seasons’ Center of Excellence which offers consulting services nationally in hospice, palliative care, and research. Dr. Bull is at the forefront of research in HPM. As Director of the Four Seasons research department, she has served as Principle Investigator on over 30 clinical trials. She is a founding member of the NIH-funded Palliative Care Research Cooperative (PCRC), serves on its Steering Committee, and chairs its Membership Committee. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), chairs its Research Committee, and is Associate Editor of PC-FACS, the AAHPM multi-journal digest summarizing cutting-edge palliative care research. Dr. Bull is first author or co-author of multiple peer-reviewed publications, with a focus on HPM program sustainability and quality reporting. She is a frequent speaker at state and national meetings, sits on the Hospice Intermediary Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Chief Medical Officers group of the National Hospice Work Group.
