2. Identify two complementary therapy / integrative therapy treatment goals
3. Discuss the rationale behind complementary therapy treatment goals used for dyspnea, anxiety and pain
During the past decade, hospice and palliative care have seen an increase in the programmatic use of holistic services.  Access to Complementary Therapy and Integrative Medicine provide patients options to non- pharmacological therapies that bridge care gaps in challenging situations.  Music Therapy, massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy and others, provide for symptom support and psychological processing of serious illness and loss.  Hospice and Palliative Care goals frequently overlap, however patients receiving non-hospice palliative care look to holistic therapy for adding to life extension and treating symptoms without  a multitude of side effects.  This session will explore various kinds of therapeutic interventions that relieve pain, anxiety and dyspnea for patients receiving palliative care.
