1. Identify unique needs and challenges of hospice professionals who are dealing with the loss of their own family member or close friend.
2. Identify potential barriers and obstacles hospice professionals encounter in accessing grief support
3. Reflect on a support group curriculum specifically designed to address the unique needs, challenges and barriers of this population
Expectations around how hospice professionals should and will deal with grief and loss abound not only from themselves but from their family, friends and co-workers as well. But what about their grief when it is a result of the death of their own family member or close friend? Live research among hospice professionals throughout the country indicates that they are confronted with unique challenges and needs around personal loss and that those expectations often create obstacles to the healing process. This session will focus on some of the unique challenges and obstacles hospice professionals encounter in addressing their personal grief. Participants will also get an overview of a grief support group curriculum designed specifically for this population.
