1. Identify the top 10 hospice survey deficiencies identified by CMS for 2010-2011
2. Cite examples of hospice care practice which were responsible for citation of each of the 10 survey deficiencies
3. Identify measures for self assessment and compliance with each of the 10 survey deficiencies
Each year, the Survey and Certification Office in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) compiles and reports on the deficiencies cited by state surveyors during the hospice recertification process. This session lists the top 10 deficiencies from this CMS report, and then addresses each of them one by one—noting the related CoPs, actual examples from onsite surveys, and measures your organization should be taking to be better prepared when state surveyors come calling.
