A strong and well-coordinated team is essential in order to keep the promises we make to people who are ill and their loved ones. With ongoing talk of budget cuts it is imperative that we demonstrate the importance of a holistic and interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary approach to care. There is research to support the many benefits of effective team practice with findings such as better overall care, cost reduction, improved patient/family satisfaction and increased staff/volunteer retention. This 3 hour intensive will focus on building advanced skills that contribute to well-coordinated and efficient teams. Also included will be an emphasis on establishing patient/family centered goals and plans, navigating challenges such as complex cases and methods to get beyond team disagreements and personality conflicts. Attendance by all members of the team is encouraged.
