1. Identify situations complicating care to hospice patients
2. Describe the purpose of the complex case conference and the processes used in conducting the complex case conference
3. Describe the benefits to providing expanded hospice services to patients at the end of life with multifaceted and complex care needs
In this session, participants will identify intensive palliative care therapies within the scope of the hospice philosophy that can make the provision of patient care challenging. Types of situations to be presented include care of pediatric hospice patients, care of patients planning for ventilator withdrawal and care of patients with intensive palliative treatments such as multiple infusions.
