3. Describe the key components to successfully implement the Concurrent Care for Children provision of the Affordable Care Act
On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law enacting a new provision, Section 2302, termed “Concurrent Care for Children.” This session will provide detailed information from a panel of experts about Section 2302 and the options available to states that are implementing Section 2302 or are considering expansion of pediatric palliative care services to children living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.  In addition, representatives from California and Florida will share lessons learned from their waiver programs and ACA that will help professionals in other states who are working toward implementing the concurrent care provision. As Yogi Berra once said, “Theory and practice are exactly the same thing…except in practice.”
