2. Describe two or more examples of mediation with positive impact when discussing end-of-life issues with persons with implanted devices
3. Identify two or more ethical considerations related to challenges of meeting goals of care for cardiac patients with implanted devices
This workshop explores the challenges of caring for patients with implanted devices using case vignettes to illustrate ethical challenges and struggles related to boundaries of self, expression of dying and impact on code status and autonomy.  In addition, grief and loss issues when discussing goals of care will be addressed. Faculty also will review interacting, conducting conferences, mediation, and reframing to assure the patient narrative and meet patient goals of care. Doing this in a positive way creates growth opportunities for the interdisciplinary team with positive impact on interactions and teaching.
