Tuesday, November 6, 2012: 1:15 PM-2:45 PM
Primary Presenter:
Annette Kiser, MSN, RN, NE-BC
Co-Presenter:
Jennifer Kennedy, MA, BSN, CHC, LNC
Area of Emphasis: Regulatory/ Compliance
Learning Objectives:
1. Name three common technical errors in forms that lead to claim denials
2. Describe strategies to enhance documentation to show eligibility for hospice services or a higher level of care
3. Identify resources to assist with compliance with regulations for hospice providers
As the attention on hospice providers by a variety of auditors and regulatory agencies becomes more frequent and more in-depth, it is essential that documentation be clinically strong and technically correct.  Hospice clinical staff needs to understand the very important role that documentation plays in their ability to receive reimbursement to stay in business.  Hospices need to review and scrutinize their own documentation so they can feel more confident that it will withstand the scrutiny of outside agencies.  This session will discuss strategies clinical staff can use to address technical errors as well as to more accurately document eligibility for hospice and for higher levels of care.
