In the age of social media and constant access to the internet, the experience of grieving is changing. A TIME Magazine article in 2009 titled "What Happens to Your Facebook Profile After You Die?" brings up an important question. What is the role of social media and the internet in the bereavement process? This presentation will explore the use of web memorials as tools for expanding the supportive community of grieving families and individuals. The literature of grief and the internet is relatively new and this presentation will highlight current literature on the subject of web memorials and social media.
