Strategic Community Engagement - Because Hospice Marketing is Different from Healthcare Marketing

Friday, March 28, 2014: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
National Harbor 11 (Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center)
Primary Presenter:
Stan Massey, BA
Area of Emphasis: Access, Community Engagement and Marketing
Learning Objectives:
1. Apply a disciplined and repeatable marketing process proven to help increase hospice admissions, lengths of stay and revenue
2. Assess how two different hospices successfully applied the process and techniques
3. Distinguish and promote their specific hospice brand and its strengths
To some, the word “marketing” does not fit with the philosophy of hospice, as it can be perceived as too corporate. However, if you swap “marketing” for “community education,” the concept is more readily accepted. A strategic community engagement campaign can educate patients, families and referrers  about hospice care to increase their knowledge, change perceptions and influence behavior.
