Don't settle for a good board/CEO relationship when it could be great. In this session, we’ll discuss and provide tools to move your board from being okay to becoming excellent. Key elements in engaging your board's behaviors, activities and work patterns will be discussed as well as the importance of trust and communication between the board chair and CEO. Unfortunately, nonprofit leaders often have experienced micromanaging from their board.  To prevent this, information will be shared on the importance of board selection, composition, on-boarding, using mentors and retention. Nothing is more important to organizational success than the partnership between the board and the staff, and trust is essential in making this relationship work. This session will bring a spark back into your Boardroom.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify best practices for potential board member identification, recruitment, assessment and retention
2. Assess your own board of directors for development opportunities
3. Discuss tools to be applied to board development
