The core values of an organization are those values we hold which form the foundation on which we perform work and conduct ourselves. Core values are not descriptions of the work we do or the strategies we employ to accomplish our mission. Values underlie our work, how we interact with each other, and which strategies we employ to fulfill our mission. Core values are the basic elements of how we go about our work. They are the practices we use (or should be using) every day in everything we do. Integrating them into the fabric of organization can create a powerful positive momentum internally and impact perceptions from the community. As organizations change it may be time to reassess how they reflect the individual character of the organization. In this session, learn how to take this project on with successful outcomes and fully integrate them.
Learning Objectives:
1. Construct a plan to review and revise the organization's core values
2. Create a process that is inclusive and engaging, leading to a higher level of buy-in and integration
3. Describe benefits and purpose of well defined and clearly understood core values in hospice organizations
