Good governance goes far beyond yesterday’s nominating committee; guiding an institution’s organization and work, recruitment and succession, process and policy, and – ultimately – its overall success. Fundraising results depend upon strong volunteer leadership – positioning the best people to succeed on our behalf – and, consequently, upon robust governance. This session will explore organizational structure, recruitment, expectations and other key components of comprehensive governance.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe structural approaches toward building an organization
2. Describe a process designed to identify, vet, recruit, orient, engage, evaluate and nurture high-performing volunteer leadership
3. Discuss the critical role of governance in building a strong fundraising board
