Get a glimpse of how two unlikely organizations succeeded in working together to fundraise for a world premiere event. In 2014, the Grand Rapids Ballet and Hospice of Michigan embarked on an exciting partnership to bring Michigan a completely reimagined version of the beloved ballet, The Nutcracker. In addition to the boards of the two organizations, the creative team to redesign this ballet included Chris VanAllsburg (The Polar Express), set designer Eugene Lee, (Sweeney Todd, and Wicked), and choreographer Val Caniparoli of the San Francisco Ballet.  Faculty will share their success along with the bumps and bruises along the way to pulling off this incredible collaboration.

Learning Objectives:
1. Plan a collaborative fundraising and awareness building event from concept through completion
2. Describe the successes and pitfalls to partnering with a separate nonprofit organization
3. Lead your board and committee through the steps of building a trusting relationship with an unknown partner organization
